"Twilight Saga: Eclipse" star Bryce Dallas Howard shared her personal story of postnatal depression.
Bryce wrote an essay for Gwyneth Paltrow's GOOP website detailing the dark struggle she went through after the birth of her son Theo back in 2007. "I definitely felt I was a rotten mother—not a bad one, a rotten one. Because the truth was, every time I looked at my son, I wanted to disappear." Bryce didn't know that she was suffering from depression and hid her feelings from family and friends.
After realising something was not right, her family encouraged her to seek the help of a professional who diagnosed her with severe postnatal depression. Bryce credits multiple things for getting her through that tough time, one of them being Brooke Sheilds' book "Down Came The Rain". She says reading it was a revelation.
If you have the time, I highly recommend reading Bryce's story in full, it's well worth the read.
