Kate Winslet and her husband Ned Rocknroll welcomed a baby boy, Bear Winslet, just a few weeks ago. The celebrity mum sat down with Glamour UK to talk about their last name decision and her frustration over the media coverage of her pregnancy.
Apparently there were many critics who ridiculed Kate for her third marriage and being pregnant with her third child. She blasted back, "No one has a right to comment on anyone’s life or the choices I do or don’t make. It’s very easy to be judgmental until you know someone’s truth. People have no idea at all. It baffles me, truly, that you can publicly treat a person like that. It’s not very nice." She sarcastically added, "I’m really sorry to the nation’s press that I fell in love and got pregnant; I do apologise if you deem that irresponsible.”
Kate also fires back about why she chose to give her son her own last name rather than Ned's, "We haven't ever really had that conversation; it was always going to have my name. Mia and Joe have it as part of their name, so it would be weird if this baby didn't. Of course we're not going to call it RocknRoll. People might judge all they like, but I'm a f****ng grown-up."
Did you realise the press was nasty about Kate's pregnancy and marriage? I wonder if she's referring to the UK coverage because, unless I missed it along the way, I don't remember reading anything negative in the U.S. media.
