Angelina Jolie’s Kids Are Her Toughest Critics

Angelina Jolie talks about her upcoming animated film “Kung Fu Panda 2” and shares what her kids thought of it.

Angelina is gearing up to promote the new flick, which comes out on May 26th, and she sat down with USA Today to talk about her kids’ reaction to the movie.  Maddox, 9, Pax, 7, Zahara, 6, Shiloh, 4, and twins Knox and Vivienne, 2 were lucky enough to get a peek of the film before it was finished.  She says they are all brutally honest about what they like and don’t like:  “They know when Mummy’s funny and when Mummy’s not funny. They’ll sit in a room and say, ‘That’s just not funny.'”  “We’ve got kids of all ages. So we joked that we had our own focus group.”  She says their opinions “keep you competitive, even if they think Jack Black is always cooler than mum.”  The kids weren’t the only fans of Jack’s: “I was crazy about him. I had seen him in everything he’d done, but what I really knew him for was music. I don’t have musical talent, so I always thought it was really cool that he could be an actor to a lot of us but equally a rock star.”

Angelina admits that she isn’t fond of the sound of her own voice: “You know, when you hear your own voice, you can find it quite boring and uninteresting. Suddenly, you get very shy that your voice is not enough, because I’m not musical and I don’t know my voice.”

The celebrity mum of six was curious to see how the kids would react to the movie’s theme of adoption: “I wondered how they’d respond to the themes of the film.”  She says she and Brad Pitt were “sensitive to see if there was going to be a big discussion that night about adoption and orphanages.”  But there wasn’t.  “But that’s because we talk about those issues at my house all the time, very openly. We’ve had those discussions so often, they’re such happy, wonderful discussions.”
