In addition to going for an old fashioned walk, there are many exercise activities and programs that you can do with your new baby.
Once your doctor has given you clearance to exercise, consider one of these fun “made for new mums” programs.
1. Stroller Skating
Head to your local ice arena, baby and stroller in tow, and check out stroller skating. Many ice rinks across the country are now offering this fitness activity for new mums. With stroller skating mums lace up their skates and skate around the rink, pushing their baby stroller to popular tunes.
2. Stroller Strides
Stroller Strides is a whole body fitness program for mums. It’s taught by certified instructors in various areas across the country. Stroller Strides includes power walking, strength and body toning exercises.
3. Postnatal DVDs
If you’re not yet ready to work that body in public, consider using a post partum exercise DVD. If you are self motivated and feel like you are more likely to get ‘er done in the comfort of your own home, check out one of the postnatal DVDs offered by BeFit- Mum.
4. Take a Class
There are more and more exercise classes being led by mums for mums. Oh Baby! Fitness, for example, offers mum and baby fitness classes across the country.
5. Dance with your Baby
Literally. Wear your baby and dance yourself in shape. If you need a little inspiration, check out the MamboMoms DVD.
