There is nothing more scrumptious than a well-balanced, delicious Italian wine to accompany those Spaghetti & Meatball dishes that we all love.
The 2009 Arnaldo~Caprai Montefalco Rosso wine is just that Italian pasta wine. The Caprai winery and vineyards lie on the hillside below the Umbrian hilltop town of Montefalco. Founded in 1971 by Arnaldo-Caprai Caprai, and now in the hands of his son Marco, the estate has become the leading producer of Sagrantino wines in the region. This Italian wine consists of a blend of 70% Sangiovese, 15% Merlot and 15% Sagrantino.
The 2009 Arnaldo~Caprai Montefalco Rosso wine is an excellent, affordable choice for those Italian-inspired dishes. For just around $22, you can enjoy a full-bodied yet elegant and sexy wine from the Umbria region in Italy. Think ripe, round cherries bursting with toasted vanilla flavor and of course, racing acidity. Rich, tomato pasta dishes need the acidity of a Sangiovese based Italian red wines because of the high acid that also exists in tomatoes. In other words, they complement each other.
The Montefalco Rosso wine will also pair nicely with barbecued red meats and sliced garden tomatoes, a classic choice this Fourth of July. Other Food Pairings for the Arnaldo~Caprai Montefalco Rosso:
