Stay Hydrated with 3 Sparkling Water Mocktails

One of my favourite things about spring is the opportunity to make a healthy fresh start. After a long cold winter I love to revamp my wardrobe, clean out the cabinets, and toss heavy drinks in favour of bright, clean options. To stay hydrated each spring I take a break from milky teas and heavy sweet juices and make some sparkling water mocktails. Their flavors are interesting enough that they are different from just sipping plain water. However, they aren't so doctored up that they are full of sugar and calories. Here are three of my recent favourite mocktails for spring sipping!


Lemon Mint

Make a lemon-mint sparkler: 8 ounces plain sparkling water, 1 large lemon wedge, 1/2 cup packed mint leaves. Place the mint leaves at the bottom of the glass and crush them with the tines of a fork or the handle of a wooden spoon until bruised enough that the oils are released. Pour the sparkling water over the top of the leaves and stir in the lemon juice. Stir everything together and serve.



Make a pomegranate lime sparkler: 8 ounces plain sparkling water, 2 tablespoons pomegranate juice, 1/4 lime. Stir together the water and pomegranate juice. Squeeze the lime wedge over the drink and stir well. Serve.


Cucumber Mint

Make a cucumber-basil sparkler: Slice four inches of a cucumber into a tall glass. Cover with 8 ounces sparkling water. Bruise 4 large basil leaves with the back of a spoon until the oils begin to release. Stir the basil into the glass and serve.
