A recent study shows that your kids are making you fat! Research conducted at the University of Minnesota and published in Pediatrics concluded that mums of kids younger than five years old report a greater consumption of fat and sugar-laden foods than non parents.
The eating patterns of 838 women from diverse ethnic and socioeconomic backgrounds were studied and researchers found that the consumption of soda, juices, and other sugar-sweetened beverages was much higher among mothers when compared to other women. Mothers also consume more saturated fat and have higher BMIs than the childless.
What’s the takeaway? You don’t have to finish the last few bites of donut that the kid didn’t eat. You really don’t. But . . . on the other hand, it likely won’t kill you. You’ve got more important things to worry about than a few extra pounds, but if you feel that your weight is having a poor impact on your health, talk to your doctor.
