Trade in You Pumpkin Latte for a (Healthier!) Pumpkin Facial

DIY Pumpkin Face MaskWhy let those sugar-laden pumpkin spiced lattes end up making your jeans feel tight? Instead, you can enjoy using pumpkin to give yourself a DIY face mask, but without all the calories of a latte!

Nothing marks the beginning of Fall more than a crisp October day or seeing a display of bright orange pumpkins stacked up at the supermarket or at a pumpkin patch. So forget standing in line to ingest another pumpkin spiced latte or laying down serious bank for a costly facial at a day spa. Here are some ideas for how to get started making your own DIY Pumpkin Facial at home.

Pumpkin is well known for being high in Vitamins A & C, in addition to containing vital fruit enzymes that work to exfoliate dry, dead skin cells which results in leaving your face feeling soft & glowing in just minutes. Plus its also said to contain enzymes that are said to have some anti-aging effects too.

Another great thing about pumpkin is that it works well on all types of skin, from dry to oily, plus it even has vitamins in it that are thought to help fight acne too.

Its super easy to make this face mask at home, so here’s all you need to help get you started:

  • 1 small mixing bowl and a whisk
  • washcloth
  • soft face towel
  • 1 cup of either fresh or canned pumpkin
  • 2 tablespoons of honey (for skin that tends towards the dry side)
  • 2 tablespoons of yoghurt
  • 2 tablespoons of ground almonds
  • ½ teaspoon of olive oil
  • Your own daily moisturiser

Blend all of these ingredients together with a whisk in a clean bowl (you can omit the honey if your skin tends to be oily). You can add or subtract more or less pumpkin, depending on how thick you prefer the consistency of your mask to be.

Apply the mixture evenly all over your face, being careful to keep it out of your eyes, nose and mouth. If you have any mixture left over, it can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator to use later. Now relax and let the mask sit on your face for approximately 15 minutes. You might notice a slight tingling from the natural enzymes in the pumpkin.

Carefully rinse off the mask and use a gentle washcloth to make sure you remove all of it and to help further stimulate and clean your pores. Gently pat your face dry with a clean towel and apply whatever moisturiser you prefer to seal in the effects of your treatment . Now get ready to begin enjoying the compliments about your glowing skin.
