Ah, family holidays. For some, this phrase causes flashes of the Griswold station wagon and waves of anxiety. With so much baby stuff to lug and a boisterous tiny human by our side, even once easy Labour Day getaways seem like epic events. For baby T’s first family weekend in wine country, we brought way too much baby stuff, worried about naps, and lived through teething for the first time. But we also marveled as we helped T take his first pool dip, spot a baby deer in our backyard, and become a wine country foodie. Soon enough, with a few more trips under our belt, we figured out a few travel tips and tricks that make family holidays less stressful and more wonderful.
For this year’s Labour Day getaway, our little family is hoping for a long weekend of glorious weather by the sea. Somewhere we can spend our mornings reading on our ocean view balcony, afternoons exploring, and the rest of the hours building sandcastles under the sun with little T.
To help make all of our family holidays more awesome and less anxious, here are 3 Labour Day Getaway Guides full of items my family can’t travel without and sunny weather outfits we can’t wait to wear!
