4Moms Breeze Play Yard Review: Hate Your Pack ‘n Play? Try This Instead.

I’ve got a new baby gear obsession at the moment and it is my 4Moms Breeze. I’d sort of forgotten I had one, and then one day when my six month old was refusing to nap and my work-at-home mum self really needed to get some things done, I suddenly remembered. So I got it out and set it up, which took a matter of seconds. And I’ve used it every single day ever since. I’ve had quite a few mums ask me about it after I posted the above photo on Instagram, so I thought I would share my thoughts on and love for the 4Moms Breeze.

What is the 4Moms Breeze Play Yard?

The 4Moms Breeze is a play yard, but really it is so much more. You can use it as a play space, a travel crib, or a place for naps in your home, and it comes with a bassinet and changing space for infants as well.

What I love about it:

As you can see in the photo, we have hardwood floors and a fluffy shag rug in our living room. Putting a blanket or playmat on the floor didn’t provide enough cushion for a baby who rolls around and sometimes knocks his head in the process. And putting a blanket down on top of the rug makes the surface too soft, and it was difficult for him to try to scoot and crawl. Since I put up the Breeze, he has been sitting up more on his own and gotten really good at scooting around. And I know he’s safe from head bumps, big brothers, and other hazards.

Why the Breeze over other play yards or travel cribs?

I have to admit, I hate Pack ‘n Plays. I never purchased one but have borrowed them from friends or family when we’ve travelled with our first son and always thought they were poorly designed. They are always so hard to set up—sometimes two hands aren’t enough to do it. And many have cloth material on the frame, making them a pain to keep clean. Plus, they are small—not leaving enough room for much play or for bigger babies to sleep comfortably. And don’t get me started on their appearance—there is no reason baby stuff has to be ugly! I did have a different brand travel crib for my first baby, and while it was fine for temporary sleep, it wasn’t great for play. The Breeze, on the other hand, is sleek and modern, provides more room and sleep space, and is so simple to set up. With one hand!

I also am a big fan of the 4Moms company. I own several of their products and find them to be lifesavers in our home. They are all easy to set up and use, and they provide a function that is so helpful. And the customer service has been great as well. I love their mamaRoo and rockaRoo as well (and I reviewed them here if you want to learn more).

So if you’re on the fence about getting a play yard and aren’t sure which is right for you, end your search now. This is the one. If you think you’ll almost never use a play yard or travel crib and don’t want to spend the money on the Breeze, then I’d borrow or try to buy one used. But I think every baby would play happily in the Breeze, and every parent would benefit from its ease of use and the peace of mind it brings. And if you plan to use it with more than one child then it is an even more justifiable purchase. Plus, you can always re-sell it when you’re done!

The Breeze comes with the bassinet and travel bag, but the sheet is sold separately. (I never use ours for play, but you would for sleeping.)

You can find the 4Moms Breeze for purchase here. It’s also available on Amazon (where you can also read lots of other reviews from parents).
