There are some parenting topics that are so taboo that they are just better left unsaid, as Jaime Pressly discovered this past week after she posted a controversial caption under a sweet image of her and her 12-year-old son, Dezi on her Instagram account. Basically, Jaime Pressly said she has a favourite child and everyone needs to calm down right now.
The caption reads, “Best time ever hangin with my favourite son, Dezi. That’s right I said it. I have a favourite son although I luv all 3 of my boys with everything I have in me. Dez and I have a special bond that no one else will ever match because we’ve grown up together.”

Best time ever hangin with my favourite son, Dezi. That’s right I said it. I have a favourite son although I luv all 3 of my boys with everything I have in me. Dez and I have a special bond that no one else will ever match because we’ve grown up together. #firstborn #iloveyou
But before she would (or could) elaborate on what she meant, the Internet exploded with some thoughts.
One commenter, @dench924 wrote about the potential for psychological trauma, “That’s just a weight that will never be lifted. Of all the things my parents did wrong, saying (or even thinking) that they favored one of us more was never a low they sunk to…”
Another commenter, @lourdesbarrera0987 questioned how this kind of public admission would affect the relationship between all three siblings, writing, “You can have a special bond with one child but it is rude to hear to the other children and it could create a competition between sibling.”
But then reality strikes when this commenter, @astrid_roethke pointed out the obvious, writing, “Everybody calm down, her other sons are only two years old.”
Pressly apparently agrees with @astrid_roethke. While appearing on The Talk, Pressley broke it down for everyone.
“I was just being honest,” Pressley told The View. “I mean, look, I love, like I said, all three of my boys, but the two little ones are twins and they’re turning two tomorrow, so the 12-year-old is my favourite. All three of my boys are my favourite for different reasons. But when it comes to, like, travelling on a plane, 12-year-old, my favourite. When it comes to dressing yourself, he can dress himself — [the twins] they don’t even know how to say ‘Shirt.’”
As a mother of three kids, I know exactly what Pressley means. I absolutely adore each of my children but there are times when one is acting like the spawn of Satan himself while the other two are totally chill. Believe me, that child is not my favourite at that moment and guess what? That’s totally normal.
